Ads in Lenovo Vantage App

Last Updated: 01/23/2021 See Below

I purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad P43s and received it about a week ago. Of course as soon as I got it, I blew it out and performed a fresh install of Windows.

After updating Windows and installing the Vantage App to pull drivers, I started to look around and was like, “where did these ad’s come from?!”

I was using a ThinkPad T460s just 2 months ago for about 2 years from another company. It’s only been 2 months and this is what happened to the Vantage app?! Absolutely, horrific!

I started looking around on the Lenovo Support site for the desktop apps (as apposed to the UWP app) to install and configure the hardware components, but nothing.

Business is business, I understand that, and I can understand being shown ad’s if I didn’t pay anything for the product or service. BUT I BOUGHT THE LAPTOP! So there shouldn’t be any ad’s in your UWP app.

Then I started thinking, “this is a ThinkPad, there’s no way corporations would allow stuff like this being visible to their end users”, so that’s when I started looking for a enterprise version of Lenovo Vantage. If there’s one thing that I’m really good at, it’s coming up with ideas. And this one came with a pay day filled with anger reduction.

UWP App deployment files, deployment guides, reg patches, the whole nine yards! YAHTZEE!!!

Head on over to the Lenovo Vantage for Enterprise page to download the deployment package.

01/23/2021 Update

Lenovo Vantage for Enterprise is being depreciated and will no longer work as of March 2021. The new name of the app is Commercial Vantage. The deployment package for Commercial Vantage can be downloaded from the same page as it’s predecessor.
